How to Make the Perfect Cup of Tea

How to Make the Perfect Cup of Tea

This might be pretty self-explanatory particularly in an era where we have tea bags at our disposal.  But are we incorrect in just simply adding boiling water to a cup with a tea bag or to a tea pot with tea leaves?

The answer is yes. It is simple, but the truth is in order to get the most flavour out of your tea, you need to follow these steps.

To make the perfect cup of tea, you will need the following:
  • Fresh, cold water
  • High-quality tea leaves (preferably loose-leaf tea)
  • A tea kettle or pot to boil the water

  • A timer
  • A strainer or infuser (if using loose-leaf tea)
To make the perfect cup of tea, follow these steps:
  1. Fill your tea kettle or pot with fresh, cold water and place it on the stove to boil.
  2. While the water is boiling, place your tea leaves in the teapot or mug. Use about one teaspoon of tea leaves for every six ounces of water.
  3. Once the water has come to a boil, remove it from the heat and let it sit for a minute or two to cool slightly. This will prevent the tea from becoming bitter.
  4. Pour the water over the tea leaves in the teapot or mug, using a strainer or infuser to catch any loose leaves.
  5. Let the tea steep for the recommended amount of time, which can vary depending on the type of tea you are using. Black tea typically steeps for about three to five minutes, while green tea steeps for about one to three minutes.
  6. Once the tea has steeped for the appropriate amount of time, remove the strainer or infuser and discard the tea leaves or add them to your compost.
  7. Add any desired sweeteners or milk to your tea, and enjoy!
